So what is Solomon’s point? Here it is:
The conclusion, when all has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person. For God will bring every act to judgment, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or evil.” (Ecclesiastes 12:13–14, NASB95)
In other words, life isn’t all about you. It isn’t about your job. It isn’t about your marriage. It isn’t about your relationships. It isn’t about gaining wealth or becoming successful or finding fame.
If you pursue these things as your ultimate aim, you will find that life is nothing more than “vanity.” That’s where Solomon made his mistake.
What corrected it? A correct view of life.
Life is all about God. Life is about honoring Him. Life is about serving the One who made us and gave us all the abilities and all the material wealth we have.
The Blesser is the One who ultimately gives all blessings.
Of course, the greatest blessing He gave us was when He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, God come in the flesh, to become the sacrifice that would forgive our sin debt and fix the broken relationship we have with Him.
God blessed us with His only Son. In accepting Him as Lord and Savior we find true life and meaning.
Accept Him. Live for Him. Enjoy life to its fullest.
